Day One what actually happens.

First 30 days: SUYAN reactivated and engaged.

First 60 days: Comprehensive National Chapter Audit.

First 91 days: University-Alumni Alignment Council convened. This is the council that brings SUAF and the University administration into a documented, coordinated partnership, and I’ve sat at that table before, as a Student Member of the SU Board of Supervisors. I know how to make it work.

First 91 days: Corporate Advisory Board instituted.

First year: Alumni Scholarship Sustainability Fund launched. Alumni Digital Engagement Platform phased in. Federation Operations Playbook published and distributed.

This is what preparation looks like. The work begins the moment the oath is taken.

Before AI… before training 3,000 professionals…

It started one student at a time.

For over four years, I have had the privilege of training college students to go back and train high school students in soft skills through the Big Buddy Program right here in Baton Rouge.

That wasn’t theory.
That was presence.
That was investment.
That was leadership in action.

Are you floating with the current, or pushing against the waves? 🌊🚢

As I sat on Scott’s Bluff looking out over the mighty Mississippi River, I watched a powerful tugboat pushing a heavy load upstream. It reminded me of a profound truth: in the river of life, we can choose to just go with the flow, or we can make the bold choice to be a trendsetter and go against the waves!

In my book, Southern Greats, we explore the extraordinary journeys of Southern University alumni who chose the latter. They are the trailblazers who didn't just follow the status quo they had the courage to be different!

I discovered that trendsetters are just ordinary people who make the choice to give the extra effort required to go against strong currents. You will read about phenomenal leaders like the late Dr. Issac Greggs, who led the legendary Human Jukebox to break the rules and change the game on a national stage. Southern Homecoming is legendary. The tailgates. The band. The culture. But for too many years, one part of Southern’s academic excellence went under the radar: the academic side.

I created the SU Academic Homecoming and helped implement it as it is today. A full celebration of Southern’s scholars, researchers, academic alumni, and intellectual achievement, sitting alongside the cultural Homecoming we already love.
