is diving into a Romantasy selection,

Story Time:
Last year’s Hot Art, Cool Night doubled as our Grand Re-Opening, and the night ended on a super special note when 2 customers got engaged in the bookshop. The moment was such a surprise, and it immediately created such a special memory for us.

Fast forward one year later, and last night these 2 special customers returned to the exact spot of their engagement, and snapped this picture celebrating their moment. (Their engagement picture is framed right behind them )

Nights like Mid City’s Hot Art, Cool
Night, and customers like J and S, keep us fueled and reminded of our “WHY” when it comes to our dreams for Red Stick Reads. ….& it goes well beyond just the business we are running. It’s the community we are working hard to build.

To get to be part of special moments in our customer’s lives ….an engagement, a birthday, a graduation, a new baby…..will be something we never take for granted. Building connections and building community is the Red Stick Reads dream, and we are honored to be able to do that.

After rescheduling the event due to last weekend’s rough weather, tonight is Mid City’s BIG night!
Hot Art, Cool Night’s is happening tonight from 6-10 pm and Red Stick Reads is ready!!!!!

Be sure to stop on by and visit us and our AMAZING neighbors , as our lot will be filled with local artists and vendors popping up outside, as well as SO much musical talent!!

It’s a family-friendly night in our beloved Mid City that’s filled with local art, live music, delicious food & drink, shopping and we can’t wait!

We had over 150 Book Passports that were turned in, and we are beyond grateful to everyone that came out to support all of us on Independent Bookstore Day!

We love hosting local authors in the bookshop, and this Saturday we’ve got 2 fun ones lined up for our Red Stick Readers!

Keylonda Wheeler is back to join us for story time, and Angelle Terrell is returning for a book signing! Both authors have been with us before, but this will be their first time visiting us in our new space and we hope you’ll join us in giving them a very warm welcome back.

You can catch Keylonda from 11-1, with story time happening at 11:30am & Angelle will be signing books with us from 2-4pm.

Both authors will be sharing their newest books with us, and we hope to see you there!

A couple of weekends ago we celebrated Independent Bookstore Day with our 2nd Annual Baton Rouge Book Crawl, and although it is a bit belated, we cannot let the moment pass without a proper THANK YOU! It was an amazing weekend that would not have been possible without YOU….BR’s amazing bookish community!!! You came out in force to show love & support to Indie bookshops in the BR area and we are all so very grateful!

As a small token of our gratitude all four participating bookshops , , , and us at , are contributing prizes towards a Grand Prize drawing that will be taking place this coming weekend. This week we are in the process of collecting passports and anyone that visited all four bookshops, OR visited our bonus stop at the Recycled Reads sale, is entered into the drawings. We will be announcing the winners of our 2 giveaways this weekend.

It’s Saturday at Red Stick Reads & we’ve got some bookish fun lined up for you!

We love when local authors come to visit us in the bookshop, and today we are excited to welcome Margaret Simon for the first time. Margaret will be sharing her precious children’s book, What’s That Sound? Birds of the Bayou .

About the book:
What’s that sound? asks the little boy, wondering about the calls of bayou birds. From the “who-ah-who-o!” of mourning doves to the barred owl’s “Who-cooks-for-you? Who-cooks-for-you-all?” nightly call, take a bird watching walk alongside the bayou with your own little one and sing along.

And the fun continues later this evening when our good friend .ish will be back with his Anime-ish Night! Tonight’s feature will be Ghost in the Shell.

The 2nd Annual Baton Rouge Book Crawl is here and we can’t wait to see our Baton Rouge Bookworms out and about visiting the AMAZING independent bookshops in our area.

Be sure to grab your bookshop passport at the first bookshop you visit and drop it off at the last one. Anyone who visits all 4 bookshops between today and tomorrow will be entered into a Grand Prize drawing featuring prizes from all four bookshops .
