A family business created from the ground up, owned & run by gamers & readers--we want to help you discover that perfect game or book! We are your friendly local game store and your friendly local bookstore, too! Dungeon's Gate is Iowa's First Wizards Play Network (WPN) Premium Store--and the only one in central Iowa!!! We are Ankeny's Only Independent Bookstore. Dungeon’s Gate has a game room available for Free Drop-In Play during non-event times (always weekdays Noon-5, and sometimes extra), with a library of 350+ Demo Games that YOU can try out! If it hasn’t yet been released, we can preorder it for you; if we don’t have a copy in stock, we can order it for you--and it will usually arrive in a week! Every week at Dungeon’s Gate we feature a game that you can try before you buy. This week you can learn to play Gnoming A Round, where you’ll strategically place cards to get the lowest score. Watch out for the hazards!

Just like in the big folk game of miniature golf, you and your fellow gnomes are doing your best to recreate the game by earning the lowest score. Over the course of three rounds, you’ll be collecting and arranging cards into a 3 by 3 grid.
Drive your score as low as possible by placing negative value cards in your grid or by creating rows or columns of 3 identical positive value cards, which will earn you negative points equal to the matching value of the set (example: a row of three 6’s would earn you -6 points).

As soon as one player has no more face-down cards in their grid, each other player takes one final turn and the round is over. After three rounds, total your scores and find out which gnome has won the game.

It's a tee-rific time you'll never fore-get!😏⛳

➡️ We’ll be demo-ing Gnoming A Round all week long--and you can try it out: Tues-Fri 12-10, Sat 10-10, and Sun 12-10.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️We’re wrapping up this first week of Pride Month with a Magic Presents: PRIDE Commander Party from 12-5! Come on in, add yourself to the player list, play, and earn a Gilded Lotus Promo Card and a limited-edition Gilded Lotus enamel pin (while supplies last).
Magic Presents: Pride 2026 is run as a casual Commander event. For this event, all commanders have the partner keyword ability, allowing players to add a second commander to a favorite deck or build a new deck using two commanders, even if they don't share colors. The deck's color identity includes both commanders' colors. The two commanders start in the command zone and may be cast from it as normal.
⚔️D&D at The Gate happens tonight from 5:30-9:30. We'll have only ongoing campaigns running tonight.
