This is what is generally known as a Beech Horse. Most makers and in fact anyone with a bit of woodworking knowhow made these. They were the bottom end of the market, cheap and cheerful toys and came in many sizes.
I've got two, Lazarus and Icarus and I am so pleased to own them because they are rare. Not many survived because they were left outside in the street or garden, or were outgrown and fell to bits. I don't think that they were cherished like an expensive rocking horse.
I will never sell mine, I look for them online but very rarely find them.

Two tricycle horses, both going to auction. One is genuine, the other fake. Yes, I will say fake as some people like to defend these copies, but the makers are trying to fool you into believing that they are antique. They come out of the factory in a dirty brown colour with bits missing and damage.
English horses did not have carved manes. That is an easy way to spot an Indonesian fake. Also, to me at least, they are always ugly.

This horse has come up for sale in the classifieds. Its in Ennis, County Clare. It looks like a Smith, so I've enquired. She's 300 euros, but it costs me over 200 just to get a horse here from the UK, before even paying for it. I might see if I can find the money.
