Can anyone help us on how to reach a wider audience for the goat rescue please...
We really struggle to make ends meet, we rely purely on summertime activities, donations and fundraising events. Non of our Hensell Helpers receive any wages or expenses and 100% of every penny we receive goes directly into the welfare of the animals.
We have a really difficult situation where over the summer we took on more goats in need than perhaps we should have done, we try not to refuse a goat in need, but we were planning to have a large indoor barn facility, very sadly, due to circumstances beyond our control, this didn't happen and the ground conditions we have now is causing major problems.
Plan B, was to create some more multi purpose goat housing to enable our goats to co exist in happy groups but to do this we needed some donations and do some fund raising, we try but fail to attract enough interest.
We find our audience is quite small and fairly local and its always the same lovely people who are very generous and dig deep, but, there comes a point when even they feel that they have contributed enough and this is quite understandable.
We see other rescues launch appeals for fantastic large amounts eg £50,000 and people fall over themselves to donate...
Presently we have a fund raising raffle and we are struggling to get people to buy tickets at a £1 each for a really good prize that although donated to us has cost the person a considerable amount to kindly put together
We have started a JustGiving appeal to fund raise to buy a shelter for the goats.
Some of the goats are very miserable or cooped up with goats that terrorise them and we cannot let this continue and we get really upset to see this.
How do other organisations reach out successfully...
We aren't looking for a huge sum, just the cost of the field shelter and some rubber matting.
If we cannot raise some funds very quickly, we will have either serious vets bills or have to re home some of our gorgeous goats who thought they had a home for life with us and reduce our numbers which is a thing we hate doing at this time of the year.
Please can anyone help us promote Hensell Goat Rescue to a wider audience.
Thank you
