Today is the day we’d probably have arrived back at the coast at the finish of the Ta**us Mountain Race ‘26
The race started in the rain and that never stopped enough to let any of us dry out. It was the most rain that Istanbul had seen in 85 years, the worst in Ta**us Mountains for 30. Ankle deep water turned thigh deep for some of us and the endless mud took its toll on equipment. Coupled with winds that even sent the tandem flying sideways across the trail it was quite the gig.
By the time the race was pulled on day four, thirty something of the two hundred and thirty-ish riders had already scratched. Some would have carried on regardless of the conditions, some would have fallen to the side due to poor equipment choices, lack of experience or a mix of luck and other things. It was all out there to see and it all plays its part.
It is what it is.
In between the thunderstorms we got to see some amazing places and make progress with some great people and for that we are grateful.
Big up the Mountain Races Family, keep on doing what you do.
V2 TMR will be different that’s for sure. Roll on.
