What a weekend…
We put in over 9 hours of preparation yesterday, and matched that again today!
Absolutely incredible turn out, over 250 buyers once again! I cannot believe the before, and after. The complete obliteration. We had two back rooms still full of stock before we opened, we replenished constantly and it just flew!
Thank you to everyone that came along, purchased, donated and everything in between. All our amazing friends and family that helped with the event, we’re so grateful. We raised £3269 which is just insane. We will now fulfil the request for a privacy pram for the bereavement suites located at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Furness General Hospital along with some new furnishings for the Rainbow Suite at Furness General Hospital.
We have now also established the footprint jewellery supply to bereaved parents in the Rainbow Suite at Furness General Hospital and Willow at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. This will give every bereaved parent the opportunity to create a sentimental piece of jewellery with their babies footprints and name engraved, kept close to their heart to be worn proudly. It may seem like such a small gesture, but in our experience it’s massive. Leaving the hospital having given birth with just a memory box is unimaginable. Creating that memory box is precious, but having something physically present all day, every day for us was essential. We purchased ours ourselves when we first had such service in the pipeline, and we wear and treasure them every single day. We wanted every single bereaved parent to have access to that, at no cost.
We will also continue to fund Abi Cooling Cots in the North West where requested (at this present time, we have 4 currently in production).
I hope everyone found a bargain, was happy with their purchases and left wanting more! I do need a little break, I won’t touch the donations for a few days now. It’s been an overwhelming three weeks of preparation. It has consumed my life these past three weeks, I won’t lie. Every single item there today, had passed through my hands, priced, washed, tagged, tested, in the house, out the house, into my car, out my car. The scale of that, when you see all that alongside the fact I work for a living 😅
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We started off something little, which has just grown and grown unimaginably.
A few have asked, next date. 5th July… we had originally advertised 11am - 1pm. But after today, the volumes, the replenishment. We’ve come to the conclusion that 9 hours of prep for two hours of sale is unbalanced. We’ve revised the times, to 11am - 4pm. We are going to run this as a purely Remembering Romeo event, and trial. Today we were blessed with the weather, had we not, the overspill would have been unbearable we were so thick with donations. The event ran over significantly, we reopened and welcomed a whole load more buyers. We decided to open again, and half price. We needed to clear some space to allow for rotation, it achieved that. I don’t want it to become stagnant. It won’t be a regular. We will just amend pricing accordingly.
Tomorrow I will be travelling to Manchester to present and speak about Remembering Romeo at the NHS North West Maternity Shared Learning Event. Incredibly blessed to have been invited, and running on fresh air at this point but undoubtedly an incredible opportunity and experience.
Congratulations if you made it this far! We are very grateful for your support.
Lots of Love Chelsea, Christian, Aria, Leo, Forever Baby Boy Romeo & Monty (that won’t be his real name) 😂 💙
