Coming Soon! A guitar I've been desperate to get my hands on since coming back from Rome. .luthier has built a brand new 'Caparbia' model especially for CGA and it's finally complete.

This was one of my favourite guitars at this year's . Sebastiano builds a guitar with an exquisite clear voice that retains all of the heart, drama and magic that we all love in a top quality classical guitar. The tonal balance of his guitars is truly remarkable. Clarity in perfect harmony with body/warmth, powerful projection perfectly weighted against tonal subtlety and delicacy, aesthetic beauty in a classic yet modern feeling style. His guitars are also wonderfully easy and enjoyable to play, making them a real players dream.

It's hard to describe the feeling you have when a guitar fits you so perfectly. I've been playing classical guitar for over 30 years now, and this guitar found new ways to excite the senses and opened my ears to new tonal perspectives. A remarkable achievement!

New Arrival: José Ramirez Estudio (1976)

This is a wonderfully characterful vintage Ramírez from the tail end of the Ramirez golden era.

Built with a cedar top and mahogany back and sides, this guitar has a bold, expressive voice with a strong fundamental, generous basses and a vocal quality across the trebles. It has that lovely settled-in feel you only really get from a mature instrument — responsive under the fingers, comfortable to play, and full of musical charm.

Condition is a major part of the appeal here. For a guitar approaching 50 years old, this example is exceptionally well preserved, making it a very appealing opportunity for anyone looking for an authentic vintage Ramírez with genuine character and heritage.

Just Arrived - José Ramirez 4NE (2016)

A superb secondhand example of the José Ramírez 4NE, built in 2016 and presented here in near mint condition.

The 4NE was one of the top models in the Ramírez studio range, offering the classic Spanish character associated with the brand in a more accessible format than the fully handmade concert instruments. In the current Ramírez catalogue, the closest modern equivalent is the Estudio 3, making this 2016 4NE a very appealing option for players seeking an upper level Ramírez studio guitar.

Tonally, this guitar has the warmth, depth and directness that players desire in a Ramírez. The sound is gloriously rounded and full, with a strong fundamental, a singing treble, and the kind of musical character that makes lyrical repertoire particularly rewarding. Its character naturally lends itself to Spanish repertoire, while still perfectly suitable for music beyond this genre, such as music of the Renaissance and Baroque, as well as the ‘golden era’ of the classical guitar’s 19th-century composers, including Sor, Giuliani, Aguado and Carcassi etc.

The playability is comfortable and familiar, with a traditional 650mm scale and 52mm nut width. The guitar responds well under the right hand, giving the player a clear sense of control over tone colour, articulation and dynamics. It would suit an advancing player looking for a substantial upgrade from a student instrument, or an experienced guitarist wanting a reliable Spanish-made guitar with the Ramírez name and associated tonal character. As far as tone and character are concerned, this guitar is not at all dissimilar from the flagship José Ramírez 1A.

This particular example is in near mint condition, with only very minimal signs of use. It has clearly been very well looked after, making it a particularly attractive secondhand option for players who want the value of a pre-owned instrument without many of the usual cosmetic compromises.

As a ‘top of the line’ studio model, this Ramírez 4NE offers a compelling blend of tone, craftsmanship, condition and value. It gives players access to the warmth, depth and character of the Ramírez sound in an instrument that feels serious, refined and highly playable. Built with a solid spruce soundboard and solid Indian rosewood back and sides, the 1A has the depth and colour you’d expect to find from a high quality Spanish guitar maker.

The tonal signature of Amalio Burguet guitars is one that is rich and immersive, with a wide range of colours under the fingers. Whilst there is plenty of dynamic headroom available, Burguet guitars have a magical way of pairing this with a softer ‘attack’ than most other Spanish guitars, which provides a sense of refinement that is sometimes lacking in other guitars at this price point.
