And lastly Morocco and Spain. The southern extension to Casablanca is still in progress, while the Madrid to Lisboa line seems still on hold due to finance. Still it seems only the UK and USA can't build high speed lines!

Saudi in on the high speed rail act too. Though the North West to Riyadh line is a strange one. It ends at buffers in the middle of nowhere near the Jordanian border. I presume one day it is supposed to reach Amman.

And the purple are all the new high speed lines added for Turkiye. 2000 kms or so of those. Green are tunnels again. Red is what we call an 'over', as in the railways goes over roads and not the default of being under roads.

I have been updating railways for our www.xyzmaps.com World Maps and SE Asia Map. So this is the new Vientiane (Laos) to Kunming (China) high speed line. All 900 kms (which took the Chinese only 5 years to build at a cost of $6 billion). It has been very difficult to capture as all the green bits are in tunnel, plus it is mostly mountainous forest, so almost impossible to find where it was on the air photos. We are ahead of both Google Maps and Bing Maps as neither have it!
