Check out this incredible project we had the honour of working on with one of our leading manufacturers for the new King City Public Library.
Our clients at King City Public Library leaned heavily on DeAnna, who was the lead contact from The Office Shop, to create a space that is both beautiful and functional. Making sure visitors felt at home in the space was top of mind for our clients making fabric and colour selection especially important. The use of different textures brings a hug to the main level, keeping it light and bright to invite you into the Library encouraging time to read and enjoy your book for a while.
When designing and sourcing products for the Children’s Program Area it was especially important to incorporate nature and bright colours into the space. Being that King City is known as one of the Bee Cities for their commitment to protecting pollinators and their habitats, it was only natural to base the theme off these unbelievably cute Bee chairs. From there introducing tree shelving, leaf stools, toad stools, organically shaped tabletops, curved shelving, and house reading nooks pulled the whole feel together. By combining various shades of orange, blue and green the inside mimics the beautiful view of nature shown through the floor to ceiling windows creating an inviting space to learn, read and explore.
We carried the same colour theme to the lower level with deeper shades of orange, green and blue creating a moodier feel. This space is divided up into several different functions: lounge, computer, study, and teens area. By doing this all needs of visitors are met inviting you to grab a book and stay a while in one of the lounge chairs, get your research for that last minute project done, study and collaborate with others or create something special in the make it lab.
Design is creating a space that enhances your experience and a Library should be a space you feel at ease, invited, and inspired. Together with the team at King City Public Library we have created an interior space for all to enjoy.
