Have you ever had to throw out $3000 of product?
That happened to us last week. A year ago, Arthur sourced sage from a new supplier in India. It had to be grown, harvested, packaged, and shipped. The whole process took 12 months.

When the order finally arrived, every single piece was covered in mould. The whole shipment. Gone.

This is the part of the crystal business no one really talks about. You can do everything right — place the order, pay upfront, wait a full year — and still end up with nothing to show for it.

Supplier relationships take time to build. Not every first order works out. And sometimes the cost of learning that lesson is steep.

We've been at this for 22 years and it still happens.
The good news? We don't let one bad batch change how we operate. We keep sourcing. We keep showing up. And when the right product finally lands right, it's worth it.

Most people have never seen an amethyst before the cleanup process.

They are usually covered in dirt, clay, rough volcanic rock, broken edges… sometimes they honestly look terrible at first. 🪨

Then they get cut open with giant diamond saws, pressure washed, cleaned, sanded down, sometimes reinforced on the back so they can actually stand properly without cracking apart.

This is kind of the part of the crystal industry nobody talks about.

but honestly it makes sense.

Because how else are you supposed to casually put a 300 pound crystal cave in your living room without it collapsing into a million pieces lol 😝

Think of minerals like individual lego pieces. each piece is its own shape, colour, and structure. but once you start snapping a bunch of different lego pieces together… now you’ve built something. and that something is a rock! 🪨

rocks are usually made up of multiple different minerals all naturally packed and fused together over a really long time.

Some examples of minerals include quartz, and mica. and an example of a rock is granite because it is made of a bunch of different minerals but the main ones being quartz, feldspar, mica. this true MOST of the time, but not always. 😋 some rocks can technically be made mostly of one mineral. quartzite for example is mostly quartz. but it’s a cool example because it kind of blurs the line and confuses people.

✨5 crystals growing in Canada✨

1. amethyst from thunder bay, ontario legit some of the deepest purple amethyst in the world literally comes from ontario.

2. labradorite from newfoundland. Did you know that Canada actually discovered it first back in 1770 and this is actually where Labradorite got its name from.

3. nephrite jade from british columbia there are mountains in bc with massive jade deposits people travel across the world for.

4. sodalite, one of the biggest sodalite discoveries ever was found in ontario by accident while building railroad tracks.

5. quartz people call them pocket crystals bc they collect them on their hikes all over the country.

Chalcedony and quartz may look similar, but chalcedony is actually a microcrystalline form of quartz with a softer, waxy texture and more subtle translucency.

Quartz forms in larger visible crystals with a glassy sparkle, while chalcedony has a smoother, almost velvety appearance! 😁
