Standing behind a little piece of McMaster history to announce a new one.

The special edition James McMaster Maroon officially launches Monday, June 15, first in person at the McMaster University , with online sales to follow shortly after.

Only 50 watches have been made.

And the display? That’s part of the story too.

We somehow found and restored this 122-year-old McMaster lectern, dating back to 1904, when McMaster University was still located in Toronto. Now it’s coming back into service, not in a lecture hall this time, but as the in-store display for a watch created in tribute to McMaster.

Introducing the McMaster Maroon.

A special edition of our James model, created in tribute to McMaster University and the city we both call home.

Limited to just 50 watches, the McMaster Maroon brings our classic automatic James design into McMaster’s unmistakable colours, a ruggedly-elegant, heirloom-worthy timepiece for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and anyone whose story runs through campus.

Each watch features a stainless steel case, automatic Miyota movement, sapphire crystal, Swiss luminous details, and a uniquely numbered caseback.

The McMaster Maroon will be available first in person at the McMaster University Campus Store starting June 15, with online sales to follow shortly after.

It's been 2,628,000 minutes, OR simply put, 5 years since the launch of the very first model from our little watch-company-that-could out of Hamilton, Canada.

The James, our ruggedly-elegant, heirloom-worthy inaugural timepiece named for one of the most essential streets in our hometown turns five.

In honour of this, we're launching the Summer of the James (original draft, "Hot-James Summer").

A special evening for Locke & King and the .

Last week, we were proud to support DeGroote’s annual Evening of Accolades at the in Toronto, providing two Locke & King watches as special gifts for this year’s award recipients.

As a brand built by a DeGroote alum, and rooted in entrepreneurship, storytelling, and Canadian ambition, it meant a lot to help recognize leaders whose impact extends well beyond business.

We were also proud to support an entrepreneurship table celebrating the founders, builders, alumni, students, investors, and community leaders helping shape the next chapter of DeGroote’s entrepreneurial story.

Because time matters. And so do the people who use theirs to build, lead, mentor, create, and give back.

A few years back, we featured as part of our love letter to Hamilton makers, builders, and businesses with real character.

It remains one of the city’s great spots, and still a reminder of what happens when good people make good things with care, vision and story.

Did you ever come visit us at our (now OLD) office?

Ryan here. A couple weeks removed from the move now, but wanted to share some founder thoughts.

For the last few years, Locke & King had a home inside 115 King Street East location. A small office for a small Canadian watch company, inside another business I helped build.

It was where I packed orders, met customers, took calls with manufacturers, staged photos, sorted straps, answered emails, and tried to keep pushing this thing forward one watch at a time.

But it was also more than that.

I started Locke & King after being let go during the pandemic. And even when you know the circumstances were bigger than you, that kind of thing still knocks your confidence.

Having a door with my name on it, a brand in the window, and a place to show up to every day helped me rebuild some of that.

It made the company feel real before it always felt easy.
We’re on to the next chapter now, with Locke & King settling into CoMotion’s new space (more to come). But I’ll always be grateful for what this office gave me.

A headquarters. A workshop. A little proof of concept.
And, at the right time, a place to make our own time.
