The Great Cosplay Indaba

A brand-new cosplay competition is coming to Africa, celebrating the continent's incredible creativity, craftsmanship, and passion for cosplay. That will be taking place at rAge Expo this November. With collaboration from epic partners of Afro Tokyo OtakuKon and Mettlestate and GES Cosplay

Each participating African country will be invited to send one preliminary winner to compete on a continental stage, showcasing the very best of African talent.

More than a competition, it's an opportunity to connect with fellow cosplayers, share ideas, build lasting friendships, and grow your skills alongside creators from across Africa.

In partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Zimbabwe /在ジンバブエ日本国大使館 and supported by Rank Zimbabwe, we're hosting Manga Workshops at OTAKUKON presented by Bill Masuku Art

Bill Masuku is an Award-winning Zimbabwean comic book artist and writer currently creating Beanstalkking to be published in Japan by Zaif-Ino, CAICA Financial Holdings, and Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd. He is set to release the middle-grade fantasy graphic novel Runeless for Disney Hyperion through the Kugali Ink imprint in October 2026. His original Afromanga that debuted at CCCT x Fancon has been published by Etan Comics Tokoloshe Hunters through a successful Kickstarter, which attracted 485% of the funding. Masuku has worked as a storyboard artist for Triggerfish on a Netflix project and Disney x Kugali's 3-time Emmy Award-nominated animated series Iwájú. In 2022, Masuku was featured in Forbes Africa Under 30. Masuku was selected for the Creation Africa FOCUS in France, supported by the Institut Français, among 15 other comic book artists across Africa.
