Addiction is a complex condition; it is also an interaction between human beings and their environment and it needs to be viewed from different angles at the same time. Addiction has biological, chemical, neurological, medical, emotional, social, political, economic and psycho- spiritual underpinnings. In today’s session we are going to begin to explore what addiction is by starting with the basics of the neurobiology of addiction. We will follow this enquiry with what I will refer to as ‘recovery hacks’, which is learning how to self-regulate, manage our urges, cravings and emotions and developing healthy skills using an ‘embodied’ approach – working through and with the body, by accessing the wisdom and innate healing capacities of the body.

Every tradition has a different name for it; the Egyptians call it Aka, it is Prana to the Hindu, Qi (Chi) to the Chinese and Spirit in some Western traditions.
Life Force is an energy which exists in all living things and flows through and animates all living things. Life Force is important because it represents part of your experience of being in the world. It is a power that runs through your body. It is neutral. It is neither inherently good nor bad. The question then is, for what purpose will you use it? Life force is also experienced by you as the feeling of love. Life and love are the same energy. Life force and love stabilises all living systems. Just as life force is experienced as love, entropy is experienced as ego, fear, hatred and destruction. Gandhi called this energy Soul force - this combination of life force and love energy. This is what we seek to cultivate.
Our life force energy is always available for us. It can help us reach higher states of consciousness, become one with the energy of the universe and allow us to achieve our purposes in this lifetime.
Many people find they can make a connection through meditation, yoga, journaling, art, exercise or sport. On Saturday the 18 September, we will use dance and movement to connect to and revitalise our life force energy. We can feel when we are connected to life force energy; things flow easily, we experience synchronicities, we have great ideas, feel happy and get things done. Connection to life source makes us feel energised, motivated, happy, creative, more intuitive, empathic, and loving. Come join us for a dance. 4 to 7 pm at Namaskar wellness hub.
