For Book's Sake's Pre loved books & thoughts Have you ever read a book and had this feeling that you need to share your feelings about this experience?

This happens to me all the time and because I almost always read true crime books my family looks at me with concern if I tell them how I enjoyed the experience LOL

On the Devil's Trail - Ben Booysen

I was hesitant in reading this book because I have read The Krugersdorp Cult Killings and I watched the show Devilsdorp and I loved both and highly recommend them!! I thought that I knew everything there was to know about this case but just incase I missed something I decided to read this book!

I was pleasantly surprised as this book was written from the Captain Ben "Bliksem" Booysen's view. From the first chapter I found some familiarity to this seasoned detective, he looked, talked and acted like my late father did, this macho guy with the big heart.

The Krugersdorp Cult Killings by Jana Marx was the one book that really rattled me and I did not know this was possible😆but this made reading On The Devil's Trail a bit easier as I already knew the gruesome details of these killings but having a look through Captain Booysen's eyes completed this case for me and I could feel the determination he had for capturing these horrific killers.

Our perception of the SAPS are almost always influenced by what we see on TV, however Chicago PD does not show the amount of admin, time and politics that is involved. This book gave us a backstage look into what goes into not only catching criminals but also prosecuting them. It unfortunately also highlights the corruption, frustration and incompetence of our Police Service.

Thank you Captain Ben "Bliksem" Booysen for not giving up and for your selfless determination.

The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk Kidd

I read this book just because I have sold many copies and I though it must be good.

And was my customers right!

This book is set in South America in 1964 during racial unrest. The story is about a young Lily Owens, motherless, lost in bad circumstances and yearning for love. While reading this book you can feel the sadness that this girl experiences and you hope that she will find what she is looking for on her journey.

Something that I will always remember about this book is May's wailing wall, I think all of us need a place where we can put our sadness instead of keeping it with us.

As seen in the photo I tried one of Lily and August's favorites and although this will not be a regular drink for me it is definitely worth a try!

Very insightful book that includes interesting facts about bees and life itself.

Very moving novel
