Dear Valued Customers,
We would like to bring to your attention the new excise sin tax on e-liquid that the government has imposed as from 1st June 2023. The tax will be set at R2.90 per ml and will apply to both imports and local manufacturers of e-liquid, closed prefilled pods, and disposables. For instance, a 100ml bottle of e-liquid, which currently retails for R220, would attract an additional tax of R290 bringing that bottle to R610.
This is concerning but what we can say is that we are working closely with other members of the v**e industry to explore all possible options to ease the impact of this tax and are confident we will find a legitimate solution going forward.
We are taking proactive measures to counteract the impact of this tax. We have increased orders with a number of Juice manufacturers so all our stores are fully stocked prior to the 1st June 2023 as tax will not be implemented on existing retail stock but only on restock items purchased after the 1st. This will give you the customer time to still get your favourite products at decent pricing while we seek solutions which we are 100% confident we will, but one needs to be realistic in saying it will increase to some degree at some point.
We encourage you to support your local v**e stores in the coming months to help the v**e industry survive. Although the price of juice and disposables may increase in the future due to the tax, we are confident that we will find affordable solutions. It is crucial to avoid supporting the black market and purchasing products made in unsuitable environments that could pose serious health risks. By supporting your local store, you will help them get through this difficult time, and in turn, the industry will stabilize. Similar situations have occurred in other countries, and together, they have overcome them, resulting in a thriving v**e industry and community.
