What is wheat straw?
Wheat straw is a new and innovative bio plastic and can be used as an eco friendly alternative to petroleum based plastics.
Wheat straw fibre is food safe certified, BPA free and FDA approved meaning it can be used in a range of applications

Where does it come from?
Wheat straw is a by product which is often burnt after wheat is harvested by using this waste and using it for sustainable innovative materials.

4 facts about wheat straw

1. It is gluten free! This is because the straw that does not contain any gluten naturally. Gluten allergy sufferers can use wheat straw fibre products.

2. As a by product after harvesting, wheat straw provides the farmers with an additional income and also reduces the carbon emissions.

3. It can be biodegradable in local industrial composting sites within 6-9months.

4. Wheat straw products are naturally anti bacterial and odour free.

The United Nations Convention for Biological Diversity came into force in 1993 to increase understanding and awareness about biodiversity and its issues.

What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the rich variety of life on Earth. There's variety in genes, variety among species, and a variety of ecosystems. Everything is interconnected, or dependent on everything else!

How does it work?
Biodiversity plays a crucial role in human nutrition through its influence on world food production, as it ensures the sustainable productivity of soils and provides the genetic resources for all crops, livestock, and marine species harvested for food.

How can we help?
•Conserve energy at your home
•Buy sustainably harvested seafood
•Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
•Do not litter
•Avoid single use plastics

How can we celebrate?
Visit your local library or museum library to read books about nature, animals, plants, ecosystems etc. - all of these are pieces of the biodiversity jigsaw. Visit a local conservation area. It might be a zoo, a nature park, a reserve, a protected forest, a nature centre, an aquarium, a museum etc.
