One of the most incredible natural wonders on our coastline is when the Umzimvubu River finally meets the ocean in Port St Johns.

It’s a powerful and beautiful moment to witness — where fresh river water pours into the Indian Ocean, creating a mix of colours, waves, and energy that shows just how wild our nature really is.

Surrounded by dramatic cliffs, green hills, and untouched scenery, this spot feels like a hidden masterpiece of the Wild Coast. Peaceful, raw, and full of life all at once.

Nature really outdid itself here.

Coffee Bay has become a must-visit holiday destination, thanks in part to the breathtaking Hole in the Wall — a natural wonder that draws visitors year after year. This massive detached cliff, shaped by relentless waves, stands as one of the Eastern Cape’s most iconic landmarks.

The Xhosa people call it Izi Khaleni — the “Place of Thunder” — because at certain times of the year, the waves crash against it so powerfully that the echoes can be heard throughout the village. It’s a sight (and sound) to experience!
