Late to the wake, but pour one out for Kami-no-Shonen-Manga,

The only and only Akira Toriyama. His seminal Dragonball and its sequels changed the manga landscape forever. Dozens of tropes now regarded as foundational to the shonen manga genre("Boys Manga" usually action driven around protagonists engaging in set piece fight scenes) were codified by this series.

The series had ups and downs but noone can deny his influence and legend.

There's a reason people put Goku on the pedestal with Superman as one of the most important and well known good guy characters in media.

Arigato Toriyama Sensei. RIP
