To my fellow riders…. And your thoughts Plz
I have been a rider pretty much my entire life.
I went to riding school in my youth and was taught everything I know – but I still learn more every ride.
I don’t know any fellow rider who has said to me they know EVERYTHING – because they to still absorb info.
I am blessed to know riders I aspire to be today even – who make it look so easy each ride.
Riders who are at the top of their game that still get butterflies before entering an arena.
I to this day am still open to being taught the right way or correcting a error.
I have been privileged to ride phenomenal horses over the years and meet amazing people.
More so now with my business venture you see a different side of the horse community.
I also was trained at a riding school and from a young age you are taught horse men or women are a certain class.
We follow an etiquette instilled in the sport. This is to the sport and of course to the animal.
But does this behaviour also cover thy fellow rider?
I have to speak out today on what I witnessed – not just myself but many spectators by a well-known coach.
Considering your accolades and wealth of knowledge – surely you should also have the respect?
I watched a grown woman in her late twenties be turned into a child on her horse in front on many spectators.
He horse put a foot wrong in the arena and she was reprimanded beyond comprehension
I understand he is the coach – but rather take her to one side and give the criticism and not embarrass you in front of 50 ppl?
Swearing at her and demoralising her is not going to make her perform better – it makes her scared not to!
She will be scared to fail like every rider does and not learn but fear the scolding from you.
To make matters worse he did the same to a grown man his similar age. Who cowered behind him after his ride.
Grow a pair of balls really – you are a grown ass man acting like a child!
We sat on the side lines later in the day once he mounted his own steed and watched for perfection.
Well karma is a bitch and yes you are not perfect and you also had challenges in your ride
When your own horse didn’t perform – no one scolded you from the side-lines / no one swore at you profanities.
In the sport if you are mean to you horse - you are disqualified !!
This should apply to the people on the side lines.
Parents and other people commented on how you degraded them publicly.
I caught said lady later in the day and said to her – “Im sorry we had to witness that today – I don’t know who he is to you but I wouldn’t tolerate that”
She was gobsmacked and white as a sheet. To say shocked is an understatement.
Well fast forward the end of the day. Said coach approached our group at the end of the day with his bruised ego after his minions tattle tailed on us.
To say I have never in my life meant someone so egotistical and think he owns the world is shocking.
“you think I ride KAK well come let me teach you a lesson or 2” “Im sure I can squeeze you nothings in on Tuesday”
My response was – “I can fit your attitude adjustment lesson in RIGHT NOW – I have time”!
***Note not once did we bad comment his riding but the way you treat people shows a lot about your character!
I hope you treat your horses differently
If he is your coach and you pay money to be treated like that – well what a waste of money!
You don’t have to pay for emotional abuse!!
