At CTFC we take the time to teach ….

Martinus smashed a 93kg Yellowfin Tuna yesterday , the first Tuna he has ever caught and he did it in style .

Think about that !

Knees tight against the gunwhale pads , hands off the rod , harness straps remained tight .

“ Fight the fish not the gear “ .

A little bit of guidance goes a long long way .

Casino fish on the popper !

77.7 kg Yellowfin Tuna on the popper is something that does not happen every day ( or every year ) .

Well done Ryan from team Montreal that fished with me on Thursday when we went 7 for 7 , now that is something to write about .

( and all 3 guests were Yellowfin virgins )

Then on the Friday with the South Florida boys we went 5 for 5 ….

Let’s just think about that , that’s 12 for 12 in two days ! !

( 10 for 10 on Yellowfin and 2 for 2 on longies )

Well done to all on board over the 2 days because I can guarantee right now there are very few ( if any ) SA charter operators that can throw out those statistics !

Like we on the nugget always say ,

“ it’s not the amount of fish you can put in the box its the number of fish that you don’t lose that counts “ !

This is my dream come true the one guy says …..

These boys fish hard back home in South Beach Florida , but they have never experienced a Yellowfin Tuna fishery like the one they experienced yesterday !

They each pinned a Yella on the popping stick and they each pinned a Yellow on the bait sticks and just to finish it off they each pinned a Yellowfin whilst trolling back towards the 03/21 .

( Oh yes , they each pinned a coupla pirate drinks back at the ABC as well )

Job done !

Am guessing they will be back in Cape Town sooner rather than later !

When the fish weighs more than the angler it’s a win ! !

Alain eventually brought his Yellowfin Tuna alongside after an epic battle that lasted 1hr and 20 minutes . 😅

At the scales the yellowfin weighed in at 191 pounds and Alain the angler fighting out of Montreal Quebec weighed in at 180 pounds , these two cruiserweight street fighters literally gave everything they had and at the final bell there was absolutely nothing left in the tank ! 🥊

Winter vibes or just an early squall ?

There is some proper weather on its way , north of 50 knot winds on the horizon building the seas up to 9 - 10 meters ! 🙈

Hopefully we will sneak in a little session on Saturday before we get closed down for a while .

Another day in fishing paradise !

The Durban boys hit it hard .

At first light and in calm seas which were flattened by a light drift from the north it was time to go Yellowfin Tuna hunting 35 miles west of Hout bay .

After a blank on the first chum line it was time to go on the troll again , as the crew were setting the backlines ….

Bang , we on !

We drifted for the rest of the morning catching and releasing quality yellowfin tuna .

Apart from the albino sun fish that came to visit it was just Tuna , Tuna , Tuna !

WORLD CLASS FISHERY , WORLD CLASS OPERATORS !

At CTFC we do whatever it takes to give our guests the best possible experience when they choose to spend the day with us .

5 of our last 6 charters had a lady in the group , each of which caught their first Yellowfin Tuna .

( I don’t remember a fish being dropped by the girls )

It makes me proud to scroll back through my video clips ( not all have been posted ) and watch how these newcomers to the sport embrace the opportunity.

No one is sitting on the fish box whilst fighting fish , this is stand - up fishing , no one has loose harness straps , no one is holding onto the rod with their left hand unnecessarily , there is no attempt to double hand wind , there is no clutter on the decks , there is no blood or slippery fish slime evident …..

Why ?

Because they are fishing CTFC style and that is the correct way in-fact ( in my opinion ) it is the only way to bring these huge fish alongside in relative comfort and safety whilst getting the most out of this incredible experience .
