Today, our Afrikoa chocolate shop had the joy of welcoming a wonderful group of students from the American International School of Cape Town for an immersive journey into the world of bean-to-bar chocolate.
Together, we explored the incredible journey of cacao, from the hands of farmers in Africa to the final crafted chocolate bar. The students learned about the vital role cacao farmers play in the supply chain, and why ethical sourcing, direct trade relationships, and transparency matter deeply to us at Afrikoa.
What makes Afrikoa different is our commitment to honoring cacao at its origin. We work closely with farmers, pay premiums for quality cacao, and believe that more value should remain on the African continent where over 70% of the world’s cacao is grown. Every bar tells a story of people, soil, culture, craftsmanship, and connection.
The visit was filled with curiosity, thoughtful questions, and of course… tasting! The students experienced a variety of our chocolate variants, discovering how different origins and cacao percentages create unique flavor profiles from fruity and floral notes to deep earthy richness.
Moments like these remind us that chocolate is not only something sweet to enjoy, but also a powerful way to connect people to agriculture, sustainability, ethics, and culture.
A heartfelt thank you to the students and teachers of AISCT for visiting us and sharing such beautiful energy with our team. We hope this experience inspires a deeper appreciation for the journey behind every piece of chocolate. 🍃🍫
