FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS CACAO
It started as an idea. Make chocolate from bean to bar at the foot of Table Mountain. And so, knowing nothing about the process, we started making chocolate in late 2009. Since then, our love for chocolate has grown into a full-out obsession with all things cacao. Our approach to making chocolate is one of simplicity. We buy our cacao direct from the farmers. The
cacao must be sustainably grown and contain no cadmium or lead. We keep things as natural as possible and don't alkalize our beans. We vary our roasting profiles per batch to highlight the flavors from each specific harvest. When making chocolate, we keep the ingredient list to only what is necessary to create our indulgent products. To achieve this ambition, we need to make sure we:
1. Look after the environment (sustainable cacao);
2. Pay the farmers a fair price for their efforts;
3. Pay our suppliers on time;
5. Provide our customers with a product that does not contain harmful chemicals, are clean and indulgent, all at a fair price. To find out more about the process, check our blog posts in which we will share more about our story.
