My nice neat car is trashed. someone reversed into it and its a total mess. whole front end is bent, chassis bent cars pulling heavily and the engine doesn't sound all to good. the front windscreen piller is cracked too. Im so upset.

It's been a while since I posted last. Since then the 1.8l motor of Schatz seized on the N2. Turns out the oil pump kakked. So that was fun.

Thanks to the guys at Citispares not only did they take out the old engine and add a new one they sprayed my engine bay and had a new engine in, in no time. And at a fraction of a cost I was quoted at other places.

So Schatz is alive and well again and driving better than ever.

The new bonnet is finally on.

I have a new decoration in my flat..... That's 2 coats of primer on now.... next is a few coats of white then gloss coat...

Gearbox day sorted.... FastLinks did me a one hell of a solid. Because im really busy with work they came to me and did a short shift conversion and sorted out my linkage and it's now the best gears I've ever had on any car. Thanks guys you did an excellent job.

Some more changes... went to help Frikkie.... ended up with a new LED interior light, a new baseless grill, bumper and stiffer for the new bumper new indicators, both LED, and new headlamps..... get home and what happens? Car park filled with green liquid, my radiator stopped working. Fearing the worst.... I hit YouTube and found that the first thing to always check is your fuse box. And no.1 fuse on a golf is the radiator fan. It was blown. Thank goodness for small mercies. Tomorrow is gear box day!

So finally back up and running again. Well, now I know how to change an alternator, rewire battery terminal connections set the timing without a timing light and tune a KS2 carb. She's idling dead quiet now, to the point i thought she was cutting out the whole time.
On the aesthetics side, all doors now work and have new handles, the outside trim beading has been resprayed and looks great ( needs glueing on with sikaflex because if stolen will cost 2.5k to replace very expensive) some windshields on the doors, a new petrol cap, back wheel flares, and I've added a GTI spoiler to the back. Dashboard is now 100% original, even ashtray and lighter are 1989 made. The guys over at Citispares in Gordon's bay have been AMAZING with advice and help. Next up FastLinks is getting a call to sort out the gears. New windshield and finally new bonnet this week.....

So all is sorted. New alternator needed... and now this. So probably running lean and timing is out a bit. *sigh... smoke is coming out the breather on the tappet cover. And it was spitting oil onto the manifold. All the seal are good and the oil is black nothing grey there so the head is fine... one thing after the other. I'm kinda regretting this project.

Car is back running. Alternator is bad so I will sort that tomorrow. My timing is ever so slightly out and the carb is running a little lean. So.... apparently that causes heat and we have a new problem. Steam/smokewas from the breather on the rapper cover.* sigh...

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the nu***ck of what ever as**at wired and hosed this car up. It freaks me the hell out every time I see it. I'm going to have to do something soon. Definitely a wire tuck.

Carb was serviced, she starts but sounds like a drunken elephant. I may have made a b**b on the card somewhere. The choke isnt opening and closing fully but I see one can set it. So will do that now. Or not. More YouTube videos.
