Come this evening the Cape Town community will descend on Three Anchor Bay, Sea Point, for the annual Eid moon moonsighting. According to head of the Crescent Observers Society, Imam Yusuf Pandy, the Shawwal moon will be 20 hours and 57 minutes old at the time of the moonsighting. Ordinarily this would mean a good chance of sighting the moon, however due the smaller window period for the moons visibility, there is a greater chance of South African's completing a 30 day Ramadan this year. However it remains to be seen. Team VOC will broadcast the moonsighting LIVE from Three Anchor Bay just after 5pm this evening.
