Niel Joubert Estate Wines is located on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, on the outskirts of Paarl in the Western Cape winelands. It is a sizable wine and fruit farm with breath-taking landscapes, hills and dams that are nourished by a natural mountain spring. Erni Leicht, has been the estates’ winemaker and cellar master since 2000, has in-depth knowledge of the vines and their potential. Celebrate Pinot Noir Day with Oak Valley Sound of Silence, where every sip tells a story.
High up along the foothills of the Groenlandberg in the cool climate of Elgin, grows the ever-so delicate Pinot Noir. It may appear as a gloomy environment but Pinot Noir thrives amongst the sounds of silence. The nose shows abundant dark cherry, red plum and raspberry notes which is complimented by gamey aromas and subtle clove spice. This evolves into fresh herbs of thyme and spearmint. The palate is fresh and grippy with abundant acidity, plenty of red fruited flavours of mostly strawberry, finishing long and dry.

Lagavulin 16 Year Old is truly a benchmark Islay whisky. Deep, earthy and maritime character with rich notes of dried fruit and smokiness that comes from Islay peat but is more akin to Lapsang Souchong tea in profile.
Redolent of iodine, sweet spices, mature sherry and creamy vanilla.
A long, spicy finish. Pair with intensely salty blue cheeses, which complement the peat-rich, sweet and salty character of this Lagavulin wonderfully.
