Tropical Storm Helene Update:
Our facility is located in the Asheville NC area. While our property was undamaged by the storm, many areas surrounding us were devastated by flooding, swift water erosion, mudslides and downed trees. Our staff was without power and cell service for a week and internet for nearly a month. Our main computer systems were down. Initially, none of the four interstate routes into Asheville were open. Without electricity, well water and refrigerators, we were living in camping mode. We consumed most of our perishable food within a few days, but also had a well-stocked pantry. We could have kept going this way for at least two weeks.
After a few days one interstate route South opened up to regular traffic. We decided to leave Asheville and take some inventory with us so that we could fulfill orders using laptop computers. Customers that placed orders during this time received hand-written address labels and no printed invoices. Orders were shipped from various cities in NC and SC, depending on where we were able to find temporary accommodations.
We got internet service a few days ago, so we are back in business. The major interstate routes West and North out of our county are still closed and will not open for at least a year. This may delay some shipments, but probably not by more than a day. Thank you for your patience.
