Big doin's happening at the Saddle Guy. It is a heavy heart that I have to announce that we are closing our Robertsdale, Alabama shop location and relocating to our new hometown of Alexander City, Alabama. We want to say a big thank you to all those in Baldwin county that worked with us, shopped with us and let us help keep their saddles in good shape. You all will be sorely missed.
However, we are praying that this move will be very positive for us in the future. We will be slowing down our operation some. We will still be building our custom saddles, tack, and providing top quality saddle repair.
We will be suspending new orders and incoming repair till the beginning of May. Good Lord willing we will be set back up and ready to work by then. We ask for your patience and prayers as we undertake this move. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

A new friend from Texas contacted us for a custom saddle in all black with red accents. After much thought, he chose our Drifter model. To really make this saddle stand out, we did red stitching in the seat and personalized it with his name, logo and initial. We're all really proud of how it came together and so far another happy customer. If the idea of a new personalized saddle has crossed your mind, let us turn that thought into reality. "A Promise Kept"

At the end of 2025, a customer contacted us in hopes of building a saddle for his wife. It was a complete surprise for her. The saddle has small details in the tooling that have special meaning to the husband and wife. This is one lucky saddle.

It is a Rambler in London tan with black edging and a black padded seat. The beautiful and detailed tooling is our Oak leaf and Old Timer design. I say this saddle is lucky because of the intertwined clover leaves tooled within the oak leaves. Wait till you see the sweet message on the rear seat wing. The customer's wife received the saddle yesterday and she sent us the kindest message. She was okay with us sharing.

"Thank you to everyone who helped make the saddle you created. It’s absolutely wonderful and beautiful. I’ve never had a custom saddle or any saddle as nice as this one. I love the little touches that have meaning to me and my husband. I will send pictures of it on my mare soon as our weather allows. You have created a piece of art that I will treasure always. Thank you so much!!"

Earlier I was looking back through some pictures of saddles we made in 2024, and I came across this little beauty. It's a Rambler in London tan with stainless hardware. This one has adjustable western rigging, which is a pretty cool feature. It allows the rider to change the rigging position all the way from full to center fire. I'm guessing that the rigging is not the first thing to stand out to you. It must be the custom designed, hand carved, and hand painted sunflower/Kaley tooling. I sure would like to recreate this saddle...if only someone would contact us and place an order for a Rambler just like this. Or use this post as a jumping off point for their, or your, own brand new saddle. Something to think about. Contact us-we are always happy to help!

We also don't say it enough, but we thank you for your continued support!

A custom tooled and might we add pretty, rich brown leather Drifter Field & Trail saddle. This one came out really nice. We are especially pleased with how the seat assembly fits here. It really shows off the profile of the seat pocket in our saddles. The seat assembly is suspended above a woven nylon ground seat which provides shock-absorption. The two most important words in that last sentence are suspended and shock-absorption. Just imagine easily sinking into the plush padded seat of your own, new Drifter saddle.

Today we are highlighting the Classic Trooper saddle. This is the cornerstone of our line of suspended seat saddles. Not only a cornerstone but also the jumping off point for all of our suspended seat models. Here are a few facts about the Classic Trooper.
1. The parts for the saddle are cut with original Tarpin Hill Saddlery trooper cutting dies. We were fortunate enough to purchase Mr. Larry's cutting dies from his family after his passing in 2008.
2. A few redesigns made to improve craftsmanship, durability, and comfort.
a. Upgraded leather to fine English bridle leather.
b. Replaced singly ply, riveted rigging straps to doubled & stitched rigging straps
c. Narrow seat base to relief pressure points on inside of riders legs at transition
between seat and flaps
3. So many options to customize your Classic Trooper and multiple colors to choose
from. Available with stainless steel or solid brass hardware, seat padding,
horn/no horn, stirrup choices, fender choices, horse fit options, not to mention
the endless decorative hand tooling options.

Have I convinced you to contact us to start your order for the last saddle you'll ever want? If so or if you need more convincing please give us a call, text or email. We are happy to help.

I received a kidney transplant in March of 2024 from a living donor. I can hardly think of a greater gift than one person giving to another. It was because of a Facebook post that my donor was moved to donate a kidney for me. I pray that posts like this will move someone to donate for Matt Backus
