We have a large collection of original drawings (and color drawings) by Eduardo Vernazza, most of which were published in the Sunday supplement of the newspaper “El Día.” Actors, actresses, gaucho scenes, among others from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
👉 Eduardo Vernazza (Montevideo, October 13, 1910 - May 26, 1991) was a Uruguayan artist.
He studied drawing with Marcelino Buscasso and took sculpture classes with Severino Pose at the Círculo de Bellas Artes. He frequented José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín’s studio and produced illustrations for Mundo Uruguayo and other magazines. He was a cartoonist for the newspaper El Día, where he also worked as an art critic.
The themes of his works include flowers, still lifes, domestic animals, portraits and self-portraits, circus themes, seascapes, various landscapes, scenes of Montevideo with its fairs, squares, streets, theater, candombe, and popular characters. His oeuvre includes paintings and more than 2,000 drawings.
