Channeling a lot of big feelings into this sculpture today.

Octopus of Revolution. They carry the Statue of Libertys Torch to light their way, a megaphone so their voice is heard, a book - knowledge is power, a globe ready to hurl - because the rest of the world is prepared to join this battle, and finally, a sword at the ready behind them.

I spent the day surrounded by supportive folks, wise elder activists who have fought these battles before us, with lots of hugs and clay therapy. There's nothing like slamming 8 lbs of mud around.

Francescaw was given at least 4 coats of underglazes and is now drying out, waiting for her bisque fire! Sculpt: 12 hrs...

18 hours of work in so far, and she may still explode! Ceramics are a risky art.

I finished Francescaw's underglaze, now waiting for her to dry all the way so she can be bisque fired!

A studio friend will digitally scan her so she can be 3d printed. We have both clay and resin printers at the studio - I'll be so excited to have replicas available for sale in the future.

I make weird tree people sculptures, and today I accidentally made Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman)... So then I had to attempt to make a Megan Mulally.... and boy, is "attempt" the right adjective for this monstrosity. I made up for the bad face with a great butt. Hopefully Nick Offerman won't be offended by my treatment of his lovely wife's face. He does seem to be pleased about where she's putting her root-hand.... Can you hear his giggle?

Sometimes you have to give the littlest artists unfettered access to glitter glue, tape, glue sticks, and all the recycling to get time to submit your work to a gallery!

Cross your fingers that my cicadas are accepted, and the kids don't accidentally glue themselves to each other.

I like a challenge, and making these two Raku cicadas led me to take on learning stained glass so I could create the win...
