How to choose correct geomembrane for your project?

Many engineers only know HDPE geomembrane, while there are multiple material options for anti‑seepage liner works.

Material types

✅ HDPE — GH‑1 / GH‑2S / GH‑2T1 / GH‑2T2
High strength & chemical resistance. Best choice for landfill, tailings pond, biogas and chemical containment.

✅ LDPE (GL‑1)
Soft, low‑cost, great low temperature performance. Suitable for small ponds, landscape water and irrigation channels.

✅ LLDPE (GL‑2)
Superior ductility, high elongation, ideal for sites with soft foundation settlement.

✅ EVA & ECB (Waterproof board)
Tunnel & underground engineering, excellent low‑temperature or dimension stability.

✅ PVC
Low cost for temporary works. ⚠️ Plasticizer migration problem, not suitable for high‑temperature liquid storage.

Surface options

- Smooth: general pond bottom
- Single textured GH‑2T1: slope anti‑slip
- Double textured GH‑2T2: steep slope / heavy surcharge
- Studded / point textured: anti‑slip, specifications to be agreed in contract

Climate selection tips

❄️ Cold area: GH‑2S for hazardous waste / landfill; LDPE & LLDPE for aquaculture & irrigation
☀️ Hot sunny site: check thermal aging & OIT value, carbon black content 2.0~2.8%
🌡️ Large temperature swing: reserve expansion space, do NOT stretch liner tight

Matte finish · Wide roll up to 6–8m · Integral rough texture
Great for high‑standard projects: landfill, reservoir, oil containment

✅ Cast Film
Shiny glossy surface · Cost‑effective
Fit for fish ponds & small water storage projects

⚠️ Engineering tips
✅ Wider roll = fewer welds = less leakage risk
✅ Slope projects: use integrally textured geomembrane. Post‑spray texture easily peels!
✅ Simple test: scratch the rough surface. If particles fall off, avoid it.

Important: Production method cannot directly define quality.
Quality relies on raw material, formula and factory quality control.

The biggest advantage is that the installation is simple. You can cut it according to the actual area, lay it down and secure it, then spray water. After hydration, the cement layer gradually hardens.

Here we are performing an air pressure test on a geomembrane seam to check whether the welded joint is properly sealed.

For large engineering projects, every seam matters.

A professional installation should include not only proper welding, but also systematic seam testing and quality control.

Don’t just look at the weld. Test it.
