As this year ends, we want to say thank you! We started the year happy with the way things were at our shop, not wanting anything to change. But we did change. We brought in more bookshelves, more books, opened more hours and our business grew. Sales overall were up 30% from 2023. We had a record sales day for the shop on the Saturday of the Celtic Festival! Our biggest challenge was keeping up with the demand for good used books, and our community helped us meet this need by spreading the word and bringing us so many great reads. We could not have done it without you!

Through the growth and changes, which were hard to navigate at times, the most important values we held in place as a guide. These were to promote our local authors, share the culture of Yachats with visitors, and to show up with loving kindness for anyone who walked through that door. Even though we’ve changed, the magic of the shop is still strong. It is in the connections made - from author to reader, with old and new friends, soul to soul. We want to thank all of you for coming in to find your books, year after year. From the fullness of our hearts - thank you so much for an incredible 2024!

We are so excited for the Mushroom Festival this weekend!

To celebrate, Mary has brought her favorite mushroom books into the shop, including the famous field guide book "All That the Rain Promises and More" by David Arora, as well as a cook book called "Healing Mushrooms" by Tero Isokauppila. We also have the companion book to the film Fantastic Fungi, edited by Paul Stamets, full of beautiful photographs and consciousness expanding articles by several leading researchers in mycology. Mary will be here all weekend to share these treasures and talk mushrooms with you.

Come see what's new at Books and More, open 10am - 5 pm every day!

So nice to see Jay Chambers today, author of Mistaken Magician, and talk about writing, allowing a story to unfold and getting to the point. He’s speaking at the Waldport Library this Saturday if you want to hear more about writing for middle grade kids and how he does it. Mistaken Magician is Jay’s first book and he’s finished a second which is still being edited, but we are looking forward to it!
