Dark/contemporary romance

At what age did you start writing?
Just recently, I have always had a love of literature all my life. Had an influence on my storytelling.

How long did it take to write and publish your first book?
6 months.I am self published independent author.This included alpha and beta testing of the book with final

What has been the most challenging part of being an author?
Being self published is a challenge.You have to wear all the hats.From writing, editing and marketing.But it is all worth it in the end when you are holding your book.

What has been the most rewarding part of being an author?
The reactions of readers when they finish my book. All the new friends I have made who are just as passionate about writing.

What is one thing you wish readers knew?
How much I appreciate their support when they read my book.
Who is your favorite character you have written and why?
Hands down ( but don’t tell him) Theodore “Theo” Cruz. He is the best friend of the MMC (male main character) in my book. They are both firemen. Theo is your chaotic, comic relief, short king with MMC energy. So, much so as a marketing ploy I took him out of the book and put him in the real world. He breaks the fourth walls and flirts with readers. He has his own social media page, signs books and more.

Have you ever cried while writing or editing a scene (because of the content, not the frustration of writing)?
Yes.

What is your most unhinged search topic in your browser history?
I think that would need a trigger warning.

Would you rather have your browser history read by your parental figures or your boss?
Neither.

Today our Spotlight Saturday features an Oklahoma author from the eastern side of the state. Dan Bonser writes fantasy inspired by Dungeons and Dragons. Here is what he had to say about himself and his books....

Fantasy/Sword and Sorcery

At what age did you start writing?
Before I can remember

How long did it take to write and publish your first book?
Depends on how you calculate it. A year once I started writing it in earnest, but parts of it had been written for a decade or more.

What has been the most challenging part of being an author?
Marketing/finding readers willing to take a chance.

What has been the most rewarding part of being an author?
Talking with Readers who enjoy the book.

What is one thing you wish readers knew?
How good the story actually is.

Who is your favorite character you have written and why?
Has to be Deeya. She's such a joy to write. One reason is because she's a bard, so her prose is lyrical and there are poems written in her voice as her songs.

Have you ever cried while writing or editing a scene (because of the content, not the frustration of writing)?
Yes.

What is your most unhinged search topic in your browser history?
How large a nuclear explosion would have to be to be seen from 100 miles away. What would be seen? was it feasible, has nuclear bombs been tested at that magnitude?

What's next for you in the world of writing?
While continuing this 6 book series (there are only 2 published so far, and I'm revising the third to be ready for publication) my wife and I are working on co-writing a small town romance that is inspired by our first meeting, and helping my wife with her third novel.
