JOB OPPORTUNITY: PRODUCT SORTER
Location: Ray of Hope Community Thrift Store
Employment Status: 24 - 32 Hours per week
Standard Schedule: Monday – Saturday (Including Select Holidays)
JOB SUMMARY
The Product Sorter is the "gatekeeper" of our inventory. You are responsible for transforming raw donations into sellable treasures by evaluating and categorizing items. This role requires a keen eye for quality, a fast pace, and a commitment to maintaining an organized workspace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Control: Inspect incoming donations (clothing, electronics, home goods) for damage, wear, or stains.
Categorization: Sort items by type, size, and season; identify high-end or vintage items for specialty pricing.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation: Clean household items, test electrical equipment, and hang garments.
Donation Reception: Interact with donors while removing donations from their vehicle, offer donation receipts, and place donations in assigned locations.
REQUIRED ABILITIES & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and move for an entire shift (6–8 hours).
Strength: Must be able to lift, push, or pull bags and crates weighing up to 50 lbs.
Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate manual and electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, and rolling Z-racks.
Manual Dexterity: High coordination for repetitive tasks like using tagging guns and cleaning delicate items.
Visual Acuity: Sharp eye for detail to spot defects, authentic brands, and subtle wear.
Safety Compliance: Ability to stack inventory safely and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to work a consistent Monday–Saturday schedule.
Strong work ethic and the ability to meet daily production targets.
Due to equipment usage, must be over the age of 18.
