A little before and after! This dancer came in for a refit today (she was fit by another store) and what a transformation! A very square shoe and large platform may seem like it will be more comfortable, but in reality, a pointe shoe that mimics the shape of the foot and lifts and supports laterally is the most important. When going on pointe, we want to distribute the weight through the shoe and feel like the box is hugging and supporting all around. This will give the dancer more security as well as elongate her line. When the shape of the shoe is too broad, the dancer sinks into the shoe and puts unnecessary pressure on her big toe. Ouch! The new shoe is an @rclass.america Toccata CL80. This is a tapered shoe with a high crown that helped this dancer get further over her platform and supported her with long wings. Located in Woodbridge, VA - Liesl Dancewear is the go to store for all of Northern Virginia for dancewear, dance shoes, theatrical, liturgical, and more!

Fittings for pointe shoes are done by professional dancers and teachers. We stock thousands of shoes from top name brands such as Russian Pointe, Capezio and Bloch. We work hard to find and carry styles and specifications that are typically special orders. It’s our job to find the best fit possible and won’t stop until we do... it’s kinda our thing!
