Long Post…A little Rant…Why are we taking to social media to use as a weapon rather than as a platform to support ? This past weekend at Fairytale Finds… was a lot.
What started as a beautiful market turned into pure chaos when a microburst rolled through. Tents flying. Inventory gone. People just trying to get out safely. It was scary—and honestly devastating to watch.
Our hearts go out to the vendors who took a hit. We saw it firsthand… and it wasn’t small losses.
But let’s be real for a second…
When weather hits like that, there is no “plan” that fixes it in the moment. No one is stopping flying tents. No one is organizing damage control while people are trying to get to safety.
And in that moment, the only priority was shutting it down and getting everyone out safely.
That’s it. That’s the job.
And listen… the losses some vendors took?
They’re real. They hurt. And it’s okay to be upset about it. Anyone in this space knows how much time, money, and heart goes into setting up a booth.
But situations like that… you can’t plan for them, and you can’t control them.
No promoter, no market manager, no event team is out there controlling the wind, stopping a microburst, or protecting every tent in the middle of chaos. That’s just not reality.
We’ve all taken hits in this business—weather, slow markets, early shutdowns. It’s part of being out here.
So instead of pointing fingers at the people who were also in the middle of it…or making comments about not enough weights (we saw plenty of tents with plenty of weights get tossed around)
maybe we shift that energy into supporting the vendors who got hit the hardest.
Because at the end of the day—this community is all we’ve got. 🤍
