Yes… You used to be able to buy fireworks here while watching ostriches strut behind glass.

Jerry here to wish you a Happy New Year, as well as take you down memory lane. This story starts long before Fireworks Country became what it is today. My land was home to ostriches, yeah, the birds. We were early in the ostrich industry. Their hides went into luxury boots, casino countertops, and even Mercedes interiors.

So when we started experimenting with fireworks, the ostriches were still here. I put glass windows between the barn and the store so customers could browse fireworks while watching 7-foot birds pacing around behind them. It was one strange, unforgettable era. Eventually, the ostrich market crashed. I sold off the birds and leaned fully into fireworks. Once the fireworks outperformed the ostriches financially, I knew exactly which direction the future was going.

You don’t get “Business of the Year” just from selling! You earn it by showing up for your town 💯

I’m Jerry, owner of Fireworks Country, and around here, community comes first. It wasn’t always easy—I had my share of battles with the town early on, including an angry neighbor who gave me plenty of headaches. But over the years, we kept supporting local events, doing shows, and getting involved.

Recently, Wittenberg High School gave us “Business of the Year” at their awards banquet, and the Wittenberg Chamber honored us as Business of the Year, too. We donate to or discount many local shows, such as Galloway, the casino, fairs, and homecomings. Then we make up the difference by doing even bigger shows out of town. We always insist they credit the display to Fireworks Country, because I want people to know exactly who lit up their sky💥

Shaped fireworks are made with precision geometry in mind... 💥

Color fireworks exist today thanks to an accidental discovery in medieval Italy… ✨🌙

In the 1400s, Italian festival makers experimented with powdered metals to create brighter flashes for nighttime church celebrations.
