I often meet patients on their very first trip to MD Anderson, when they visit the Child & Adolescent Center for an initial consultation. Art is a wonderful ice-breaker, a happy welcome. Chang, 17 years old from Henan, China loved coming to the playroom during art class. Even if she was not feeling well enough to participate, the company of others was a comfort. Often fearful and anxious while waiting for difficult chemotherapy appointments, sketch and watercolor activities helped relax her mind a bit. I am thrilled to tell you that this incredibly brave young woman has completed treatment! Chang’s clinic caregivers rolled out the bell for her to ring, and there was much happiness and celebration. She’s excited to return home to her friends and normal life. We appreciate your continued support, helping us provide programs for kids like Chang, whose beautiful “Heart Balloons” design is featured on a Valentine card this year: http://bit.ly/2D5Admg Children's Art Project offers merchandise inspired by the artwork of pediatric patients at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital. Net proceeds support patient programs for children with cancer.
