Since having my child 18 months ago I’ve only sat down to paint twice. That has been difficult at times, missing this part of myself that used to create with water and pigment much more often. While I have accepted I am in a chapter of life that makes it more difficult to find time to paint, I still am able to steal away pockets of time here and there… even if I cannot paint with my hands, I can still step into my imagination and paint many a picture. I imagine the movement of the brush, that grounded feeling I get every time I am ‘in the creative zone’… I take that energy and use it to live creatively, storing those ideas and dreams into a wondrous web inside my heart, waiting for the right time to let it flow onto physical paper. We so often limit ourselves by wanting things to be ‘just so’… we can become so focused on that that we forget to get creative with what we do have. At least, I am reminding myself of that this season ☺️
Winter the slowest season at our little bookstore. Through January, February, and March it is rather difficult to even turn a small profit. This is an anticipated time when we hunker down and spend carefully and appreciate every customer that comes through our door or orders online. If you are looking for a fun and centering activity to explore this winter, may I encourage you to consider watercolors? We have several dozen copies of this wonderful book Watercolor in the Woods, available to ship and for sale at our store! If you’d like to give us a call or order online through our website, we’d appreciate it! Thank you to all for helping keep all us small businesses going this time of year ❤️
