Apple blossoms are poppin right now! We have just a handful of our biggest heirloom apple trees, and a whole new crop of smaller apple trees in 40 different varieties. We went wild with grafting our favorite varieties that year, so we ended up with more varieties, but just a few of each in some cases. One we're really excited about is the Colorado Orange apple tree, a super rare apple from our home state that was thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 2019.

We're open Sat/Sun 9-5 during the growing season, but we'll be closed this Sat the 30th, as we'll at the Native Gardens of Blue Hill native plant sale!! Still taking pre-orders for that via email and our website.

We're enjoying every second of the plum blossoms! The air smells so sweet, and the orchard is abuzz with pollinators. We've got plums in all different shapes and sizes--a beach plum hedge, wild plums (Prunus americana), European plums, Asian plums...hoping for a good harvest 🤞🏽

Hi everyone! Buds are opening, so it's time for the nursery to open as well! First weekend of regular retail hours starts this weekend April 25th. We'll be open Saturdays and Sundays 9am-5pm. Come shop for native plants and fruit trees. Buy a plant from Sofia, pictured here showing off an Eastern Leatherwood. 🌱

We also have duck eggs for sale this year 🦆🥚🥚🥚

It's that time of year again! Grafting season is upon us ✨️ This year we'll be hosting our grafting workshop in Mt.Desert on March 29th. Limited spots available. No experience needed, and you'll go home with two baby fruit trees 🍎🌳 see you there!!

This picture is not as zoomed in as you'd like to think 😆 I captured these massive, magnificent creatures (one on the flower, one in the top left flying straight toward me) on Clustered Mountain Mint at Native Gardens of Blue Hill this last weekend. I wasn't brave enough to put my hand in there for scale...

Anyway, the plant sale there was a huge success! We're headed to Camden next weekend for another native plant sale. It'll be oodles of fun, and you can pick up your own Clustered Mountain Mint to bring in allll the coolest pollinators 😎🐝🌱 we are accepting pre-orders for the Camden Sale on Sunday the 14th.

Grass has pretty flowers, too! 🌾✨️ this is Sideoats grama. Its flowers always look like miniature tropical flowers to me! There are many underrated native grasses with striking foliage, flowers, seedheads, and year-round beauty. Like many other herbaceous perennials, they're hosts for butterflies and other pollinators. This one produces very oat-like seeds as they ripen, hence the common name. We've also got little bluestem, big bluestem, and a purple love grass or two. They grow in a clump (not turf) so you can even add it to a garden.
