Available first Sat June 6th we will have a new swizzle stick and cocktail pick for your tiki collection.

The Hibiscus is 7 inches in length cut from food safe swirled acrylic with beautiful pinks and oranges.

The Zombie cocktail pick is 5 inches long and cut from food safe glow in the dark acrylic. These things glow like they're radioactive!

$14 for a set of 4.

Any remaining inventory will go on the website nimitiki.com on Monday if there is any left.

Two steps forward, one step back.

While the mold casting came out amazing, the resin molds warped it seems and now the seams don't match up like they should.

So I will need to rethink the mold on this one and maybe go back to basics on molding and experiment with smaller items via 3D printed molds in the future.

This means I likely won't have any Vulkars for sale at the upcoming hukilau. But maybe I can get some glaze testers out of this mold to show off at least. We'll have to see how a test cast comes out.

I caught a stomach bug the other day. I've been bed ridden since Friday afternoon. Def not a fun scenario. So in lieu of updates and the almighty algorithm, here are some pictures of our pets.

Goose and Morticia are brother and sister from the same litter. Tsuki is our Shiba, she's a diva and will demand pets and scratches even from strangers on walks, she's def a people person.

It helps me identify trouble spots, areas where bubbles can be an issue or areas that need more mold release than normal.

Luckily not a lot of issues with this piece. My main concern was the eyes, especially as deep as they are. But they came out great!

When I was younger I hated the outside. I hate bugs, I hate the heat, I hate getting things stuck in my shoes.

As I've gotten older I have learned there is no better place to unwind and clear your head than going on a nature walk adventure with my wife. I still hate the heat though lol.

But I do love taking pictures of nature and looking for wildlife. Even the swamp puppies.

I have entire folders of photos of fauna, bugs, trees, and animals here in Florida. I use them to reference colors and patterns I want to use on my pottery.

Nothing is a better reference than the living world in your own backyard.

These are just a few photos from a recent trip to Wekiwa Springs state park. The weather was amazing for a nice walk and if it got too hot, well there was always the cold water spring we could dunk ourselves in if necessary.

I hope you get a chance to visit a park, local or even state to help your mental and physical health and enjoy the sounds, smells and visuals of the world around you.

Ok, I can't put it off any longer. I've prepped and prepped. It's time to get these molds poured and dried so Vulkar can come back for his revenge for stealing his ruby.

I went to pour molds for the new mug only for my plaster to have gotten lumpy and un-useable.

Had to go out and find some better storage solutions for my plaster. The humidity in Florida means even stored inside the humidity can get to it and shorten its lifespan.

What this looks like is lumps in your plaster. Which leads to un even mixing, poor setting and failed casts.

Typically pottery plaster has a shelf life of 6 months to a year depending on storage conditions, of which mine were poor.

So I went out and picked up some new food grade buckets And these screw top lids that have a gasket to help keep moisture out.

These should help lengthen the life of my plaster. With 2 new 50lb bags of plaster, we should be ready to pour the first set of molds this weekend.

Not every creative season is loud. Sometimes it's quiet, messy, healing, and slower than you want it to be. I've been navigating that lately, but I'm finding my way back to the clay, the ideas, and this community.
