Good news :The $200 tax stamp for firearm silencers (also known as suppressors) and short-barreled rifles (SBRs) is being eliminated, according to a recent bill passed by Congress. While the tax is being eliminated, suppressors and SBRs will still be regulated under the National Fi****ms Act (NFA), meaning background checks and ATF approval will still be required. The change is expected to take effect on January 1, 2026.
