We are excited to share our upcoming August Markets with you! We are bringing our cross-body bags, earrings, and more to Winona and surrounding areas, Rochester, and Lacrosse for you to make in-person purchases! (Peter's Biergarten in Winona, River City Gallery La Crosse, MCAF-Med City Art Festival in Rochester, Curiosi-Tea House - Winona)

This side bag is made from a jute coffee bag traveling from Sumatra.

About the origin of the coffee:
Aceh, in northern Sumatra, is an incredible region for coffee production. The average farm is one hectare, 80% of producers within northern Sumatra are women, and 95% of producers are smallholders. The region is diverse, geographically speaking. It is surrounded by beaches with a swampy inland, and the Barisan Mountains make up the inner two-thirds of the area. Coffee is grown on this volcanic mountain amongst the rainforest. One of the notable features of this area is Lake Taboa, the largest volcanic lake in the world. (Information from Cafe Imports)

We love working with these bags and learnings about the history and culture from where the coffee comes from. A portion of our sales will go back to indigenous populations from where these coffee beans are sourced.

This cross-body bag is made from a Huehuetenango - Waykan Guatemala jute bag.
In the Maya Q’qnjobal dialect in the region, “waykan” means “star, or light that shines in the sky at night.” The indigenous population in and around Huehuetenango plays a large role in the coffee production here, and coffee accounts either directly or indirectly for roughly 80 percent of the local economy.

✨ Hey Y'all ✨

We have some new items coming to our shop this week! We were excited to share them with you today, but sadly the market got canceled because the weather was supposed to be horrible! So after being sad for a minute and eating some ice cream, we decided to use our time to take photographs of our items to share with you here AND to make an online sale. We are still figuring out how, when, and where (Instagram, Facebook, or Etsy) to hold our sale.
We will let you know once we know. 😂

So, what are these earrings? Great question!
We are using coffee beans as the "main event". We've got green coffee, roasted coffee, and coffee grounds! Some designs include a metallic powder to add a little pop to the earrings. Then, we are using resin to hold it all together!

This is still a new medium for us, and we are having a really fun time figuring things out as we go.
