🌿 Farm Tip Tuesday... #1 Place NOT to Put Your Fresh Flowers🌿

Happy Tuesday, friends! ☀️

Lately, I've made several arrangements that needed to be kept cool for a day or two due to an upcoming special event. When I do, I always remind my customers that flowers can be stored in the refrigerator but in one without fruits or vegetables, like a drink fridge. 🌸

Why? Fruits and vegetables release ethylene gas, which can cause flowers to age faster and shorten their vase life!

The same goes for your kitchen counter…don’t put your beautiful blooms right beside the fruit bowl! 🍎💐

✨Monday on the Farm: Being Wise✨

Happy Monday, Friends!

Each start of the week feels like an opportunity to make new plans and goals. Here on the farm that often looks like “what are we seed starting next” or “what needs to be planted out?”

We don’t have much season left to seed start for Fall crops but we’ve got seedlings to get in the ground ASAP.

However, with the heat advisory for today the transplanting will have to wait for this evening when things cool down and are a safer transition for the plants and the farmer. 👨‍🌾

I hope you get out and enjoy nature as we’ve all been created to do but also be wise and careful!

🌿 Farm Fact Friday🌿

Happy Friday, friends! 🌼

Did you know that marigolds have their special scent to help protect themselves? Their aroma can help deter certain garden pests while also attracting beneficial pollinators like bees and butterflies. That's one reason they're such a great companion plant in the garden! 🐝🦋

If you're not a fan of their fragrance, simply strip the lower leaves from the stems...the scent comes mostly from the foliage, not the blooms!

There’s something special about preserving a bloom this way. 🌸 Long after the petals have faded in the garden, they become a tiny reminder of a moment you didn’t want to forget—a walk with someone you love, flowers from a special occasion, or simply a bloom that made you smile.

Flower pressing doesn’t require fancy supplies. Just place a fresh, dry flower between two sheets of paper, tuck it under a heavy book, and let time do the rest. In a few weeks, you’ll have a beautiful keepsake that can be framed, used in a journal, or slipped into a handwritten card.

🌿 Monday on the Farm: Flower Therapy 🌿

Happy Monday, friends! ☀️

I've always believed flowers are a special kind of therapy, and research suggests they really can help. 💐

Flowers have been shown to reduce stress, boost mood, and encourage us to slow down and enjoy the present moment...whether you're working in your garden or simply enjoying a vase of flowers in your home.

In the garden I am reminded about how healing God's creation can be. I've been busy cutting back spent blooms, clearing out rows for new crops, and transplanting lots of sunflowers.
