So I wasn't so happy with the AI generated model. It made the .obj file we used to print from. We printed and painted. The AI doesn't have the discernment of a human being. For example, it didn't know how distinguish the fingers in his hands. It ran the belt across his shoulder, but on his back it wasn't able to distinguish the belt from his color. It put some gear on his belt, but you cannot tell what any of it is supposed to be! It was AI basic mode, but I wasn't impressed. Maybe in 5 years.

So I had to see what this is all about. This first image was a 3D AI generated image. I simply wrote in text to the AI create a civil war union soldier, sitting, tired or war. The AI generated the colored pic. I exported the 3D image to .obj for pinting, but all of his features and textures were missing. The AI also generates a texture file. The texture is applied to the model in Blender to the artists liking. You choose the strength and number of faces of the mesh. The unpainted pic is after all that and 3D printed! Let's paint him and see if he looks any good!

Here's another, I call him Grandpa. I believe he is South American I am going to say he is from Guatemala. I loved the theme, I guess because he reminds me of me! This .stl file was provided by the same company fabula 3D. They contributed it to Thingiverse to share. I scaled and 3D printed it, hand painted with a view toward capturing highlights and wear on materials. He is my favorite, Photos don't always do justice, but he looks great in my living room right now along with the "Young Lovers." I put him on Ebay for a modest price to try to recoup cost of materials! Going to work on Grandma next.

Started picking my 3D printing back up. These are great fun. These are downloaded from Thingiverse (I can't sculpt,) Printed by me, and trying my hand at hand painting. With Julia To coach and You-tube - eh why not! This first one was called Statue of Lovers - "Statua innamorati". I recognize it from my youth though I couldn't find the original artist. Not being able to find another copy, I picked my own colors and my own style and gave it a whirl. Photos don't always do the work justice, It looks beautiful in my living room. I put it on E-bay for a modest price just to try to recoup cost of materials.
