I’ve stayed away from this page attempting to avoid ACOTAR spoilers but I’ve been missing it… so here I am! I stumbled upon a great, local bookstore today, - sharing my thoughts!

I have a running note about books I need to buy (because they’ve been selected for book club and not available at my local library) - I love making purchases at small businesses and use these books to do so, instead of adding other things to my overwhelming TBR. When I saw that Book Ends had a copy of The Lion Women of Tehran I had to grab it.

They had so many great options, including a new book by the author of American Dirt, a book that has stuck in my head since I’ve read it. I’ve been loving cover designs lately after going down the design process rabbit hole on tik tok, I couldn’t help but snap a photo and share with my book club girls.

If you find yourself in Wi******er, make sure to stop at Book Ends, it’s well worth it!

Husbands & Lovers by Beatriz Williams
⭐️⭐️

This book was a bit of a drag. If this was Monk and Mallory’s story on it’s own, maybe? Fell flat for me.

Wasn’t too crazy about this cover. Who is it supposed to be? Where is this person supposed to be? I don’t feel that it ties in with the book in any way.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have no idea how to rate this. There are parts of it I wasn’t crazy about (the masks, the “punishment” of this new life for Feyre) BUT it all painted the movie in my head and made me invested for book two despite it not being something I would typically read. Sarah J. Maas’ words are all working words. I haven’t felt the feeling of looking forward to a series in a very long time, this one has made me excited to go down this rabbit hole!

One of my bestfriends worded it perfectly: “This book is like a toll you pay to get into fantasy. If you like this book you’ll love the others.”

I’n sure that will ring true as I read on. I’m three quarters of the way through the second one and it is levels better than the first.

I have been diving into book covers lately (thanks to a tik tok rabbit hole I stumbled upon that takes you through the process of how they’re designed). Covers can be a hit or miss for me, this one is a hit! The ash arrow, carved-like wolf, yes.

In the streets they call me Two Book Al 😎 More often than not I have two books on me which is truly the way to go just in case you finish one! Had to put A Court of Mist and Fury on pause to start the next book club pick, Husbands & Lovers, which is just starting to connect for me. I can’t tell if it’s because I’m not crazy about it or because I am DYING to get back to the ACOTAR series 😅

What You Are Looking For Is In The Library by Michiko Aoyama
⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a miss for me. The comments about how the librarian looked and the descriptions of her mannerisms was too overdone and this is essentially a self help in disguise. Found myself dragging through and forcing reading time.
