Delaware Youth Lacrosse Families,
I will be posting registration information for DYLA Spring Rec program tomorrow. Before doing so, I wanted to share information about this program and how it came about.
Silverbacks, along with Brandywine and MOT, have partnered with the 76s Fieldhouse for a trial program for 2021 - DYLA Spring Youth Lacrosse League. This is going to be different than years past - predominately due to Covid and recent health protocols the 3 programs decided to join together to provide, what we feel will be a very positive playing opportunity with NO out of state play or travel. Working together will ensure the adherence to state health guidelines. The new format for all programs will be the following for the 2021 season:
1. One registration platform via 76s website
2. Registration will end March 15 - players will receive a program reversible jersey for practice and games
3. Practice will start Monday March 15
4. Players will be evaluated on day 1 of there age group practice to be placed on mixed program teams. Registration will be open to any youth interested in playing regardless of program/affiliation in PA, DE, MD and NJ.
5. Practices will be at 76s turf and Sunday games at Kirkwood Soccer.
6. Practices will be once per week (10U = M, 8U - Tu, 12U = W and 14U = Th)
7. Season is April 11 - May 23
8. Additional benefits - turf for practice, player discounts for future lacrosse camps/clinics, player recognition, All Star teams, opportunity for your child to play and meet kids from different programs creating opportunities for new friendships. Working on the possibility to stream/record games.
9. Safe environment with consistent monitoring of Covid guidelines and protocols.
10. Fee waiver code for those who coach with a child in the program.
**Due to timing and health concerns we will be offering a first come first serve to fill 4 teams at each age group with a waitlist to possibly add additional teams. Roster spots will be the following for each team by age group:
8U = 10 per team (40 total spots)
10U = 14 per team (56 total spots)
12 and 14U = 20 per team (80 total spots for both)
The other team directors and I have spent many hours over many zoom calls to coordinate efforts for this trial program during these challenging times. We feel that this is the best way to provide a fun and educational lacrosse program while providing a safe and healthy environment for everyone. We hope that this will help start a Summer and Fall youth rec league.
Thank you for your patience while we worked out the details.
