When your LS 5.3 w/aluminum heads overheats, a blown head gasket, or 2, and warped heads are a given. Even with steel, multi layered, head gaskets. A day of resurfacing the heads, cleaning the block and pistons, and oil where needed, opens the door for us to reassemble the engine and EFI.

We needed a donor for our 1,200 hp, nitrous fed, LT1/LS Conversion engine. Found this stock 1991 Mustang LX with a blown engine. The fun started by stripping it down to bare body and sending it to Russ Farmer at RaceTech Race Cars in Burlington, NC to be back halved and a 10 point roll cage with swing out side bars for the street. House of Kolor Brandywine candy top and Orion Silver with 30% Zenith gold metal flake to tone it down w/Show Clear finish.

This is a customer’s 1971 Ford F100 w/431 Stroker that came in with the same typical carburetor issues that plagues so many classic vehicles. Add the wiring rat’s nest that comes from constant diy add ons, and now what?
We spent 3 weeks converting the trouble laden truck into the updated vehicle that performs in the way a performance truck should. Throttle stumbling, hard starts, idle issues, fuse links and fuse blowing are gone. Now, turn the key, do not touch the gas pedal, and it fires right up. Idles great from startup and throttle response rivals any late model Ford Lightening! We changed out the gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, braided fuel lines, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, rewired the engine compartment with additional relay box, constant hot and switched fuse blocks for future upgrades, and of course-a new Sniper 2 TBI EFI system. This coming weekend is the Super Chevy Show at Rockingham, NC! As a company that builds pro street cars, we appreciate this organization. Unlike others, it doesn’t matter which vehicle that you have, as long as you are using a Chevy power plant, or vice versa. As hot rodders you have to appreciate this vision.

We received a call from a disgruntled and seemingly hopeless customer, Bobby Weaver. As you can see, he had made a substantial investment in a 1971 Camaro Z28. I said “disgruntled and hopeless” because after searching for the perfect Hot Rod it ran like crap! Even though we aren’t FiTech dealers, I told him that there was light at the end of that proverbial tunnel, it just needed to be lit. The tech guys were great, but unlike Holley and our other TBI EFI Conversion units, tech data or other resources are not available online, every request needs to be shipped to you online?? Well, this was getting old, faster than me, and so, I convinced him to go to the next step and purchase the new “Sniper 2” EFI system and end his woes. Fortunately, Bobby is a wise individual and realized that it didn’t make sense to own a muscle car that was lacking, well—-Muscle! I rode down the road with him today and watched him grin “ear to ear” as for the first time since he had made that purchase, his engine ran smoothly and with the power it had been built to perform with. We also dumped the old B&M gate shifter and installed a new B&M Sport shifter that made more sense for this car. Another happy customer, friend, that I am sure that will be referring us to his other car club friends .

When you have invested a ton of money into a car like this, a FiTech EFI system is not the system for this car! While FiTech might be ok for an introductory EFI throttle body, it’s not appropriate for this 1971 Chevy of this caliber. We discussed all of his options between FAST, AEM and Holley and decided that for his needs, a N/A sbc, the Sniper 2 unit is the best unit for the money. The new Sniper has improved injector connectors that don’t come loose with engine vibrations, the regulator is now an external unit, and we have already upgraded the unit to an adjustable one with a gauge and a port for an electronic sensor for an interior gauge for monitoring fuel. Add the ability to download software for tuning and troubleshooting , then this is a game changer for what he has been battling with the EFI unit that has been disappointing to say the least.
