A summer kimono with Japanese maple leaves and my interpretation
I bought this beautiful kimono on marketplace and it was silk, but had a lot of stains, so it will get repurposed into earrings, scarves and maybe a lovely piece of clothing. Here is the first pair you would never know it’s from one of the flowers.

It’s always hard to make contemporary earrings with kimono fabric because you need to find a small print and a lot of contemporary designed kimono have larger ones, that can be awesome for designs. Here is a few earrings that to me have a more modern design even though the material may be old. These are made with silk and are from kimono and obi. , , , , ,

I spent the day deconstructing kimonos that I bought with missing pieces from Japan. I was told they came from a old women’s I think the grandkids tried to make something more contemporary. Most of the vintage kimonos are made by hand and have several yards of material but only 14 inch wide.
These earrings are from a vintage Kimono that Artisan Donna King has named "Fans Galore." Fans were given for births and birthdays, and were once used to keep evil away. From Sterling silver ear wires the earringa are capped by a purple bead with silver tracings. Total length 3 inches. Catalog #33. Think how lovely they will make you feel!

Sakura earrings are handmade from vintage kimonos, a traditional Japanese garment. Dress kimonos were made from silk, although other materials were used for less formal occasions. Today, the Kimono is mostly reserved for special occasions. Kimonos worn by women often have fabric display themes from....
