Well people, it’s finally happening! Drew and I are doing the final dusting and triple checking the data system, and we’ve decided to go ahead with a “soft opening”, leaving a grand opening for later when we can fully appreciate it during better weather.

We’re about 95% there, but we are ready to open and show the the north shore the next level in comics, gaming, and graphic novels!

With gaming covered with next level board games, miniature figure gaming, card games, and to throw out some names there, Warhammer, Catan, Magic, are just the tip of the iceberg!

Comics and graphic novels will be well represented too, featuring the ever present Batman, Spider-man, Justice League, Avengers and the like, but also more independent publishers will be on our radar as well for readers of Dark Horse, Image, and Boom, again, just to name a few.

Thanks to everyone who’s been patiently waiting for our arrival, we hope to provide fans with one of the better retail experiences of your hobby! We’re open Fri 12-7, Sat 11- 7, and Sun 12-6 this weekend, and Ill post the full hours during the winter season ASAP!

HEY KIDS! The last permit has been issued, and we are beginning the final stage of our metamorphosis. We have a few fixtures to be delivered and built, a bit of software and tech to follow through on, and lots of merchandising to go! From this point on, I’ll ask you to head on over to the Heroines and Heroes page, where you can catch up on the final stages of the launch. Some of these pics seem dated already, but that’s testimony to our increased activity. Thanks to David S. sending over the great shot proving the pot at the end of the rainbow is always found at Heroines and Heroes!

Hey kids!

Just a quick update so you can see we’re not pulling your leg on what’s going on over here! Work is progressing, and the dream begins to take shape-

Here in the first photo is the south wall, which will be home to an amazing array of table top board games, and a comfortable place to meet and play, along with lots of other gaming options as well!

Here in the second is the north wall, which will be home to what I call the Great Wall of comics!

This shot shows where our front counter will be along with plenty of room and light for our YA section of younger readers books!

And our final two pics show off our awesome awning, with the proper Heroines and Heroes logo! Just ignore the writing on the glass for now, we do!

And there you go! Despite hiccups and an unusual flight paths, our new Mecca of fun and creative displays of art should make everybody happy! Stay tuned-Same Bat time, same Bat channel faithful pilgrims!

Hey Kids!

Thought I’d throw up a couple of shots of the teardown in progress for you to drool over pilgrims! Nicely located, and much easier to access than my old haunts, this roomy 1,500 sq. ft. space had the prior tenants personality about it that just had to go! Drew and I both like light, airier spaces with lots of elbow room, so a complete makeover was in order. From opening up the front area for a cozy sitting space, to the brand spanking new bathroom, to the amazing selection of games and comix, we were determined that this destination stop will be the one to remember.

Curious fans have heard stirrings, but for those still not in the know, here’s our proper name; (drumroll please 🥁🥁)

Heroines & Heroes!

Our goal is to provide a highly curated selection of the many venues of gaming, including high end board games, miniatures gaming, collectable card games, a role playing game selection, as well as a full line of miniature craft painting tools, paints, and products. And that’s not all!

The other half of this slice of heaven on earth is another highly curated selection of graphic novels, new comic books, special edition books and collectable back issues, not to mention a simply wonderful section of kids comics and YA books you can shake a stick at! Not just another motley assortment of reading material, but genuine works of art that can be appreciated by generations!

Capping it all off with be a full line up if collecting supplies, along with the gaming, and comic reading/collecting experience you'll want and need in what is perhaps one of the most specialized retail establishments anywhere!

So keep saving those shekels, and while I can’t give you an opening date yet, you can be rest assured Drew and I are working 80 hour weeks to give you one of the best hobby nirvanas found on this planet!

Spread the word, pilgrims, for the next chapter in retail hobby experience will soon be here!

Hi Folks!

You may remember me as the guy who announced the formulation of a new gaming and comics store not far back. Not to worry, everything is still chuggin' along; perhaps with the current state of affairs making every process slower than usual.

From the temporary closing and limited access of the local village hall to get licenses and permits for, to the stocking of various fixture and display elements, as well as the current product distribution process, all have had their share in our delay.

Rest assured, Drew and I are working tirelessly to towards the opening of the shop. A week ago, we made a significant advance in breaking ground and getting the physical process started, and are plotting nefariously to bring this project to completion by our exacting standards.

While I am shy about getting into details, I will say we are working on providing a site that will be the hub of all announcements, pictures of progress, and a general info center about all things gaming and comics!

In the meantime, I wanted to check in with everybody to let them know that even during these tumultuous times, there are positive forces at work, and before long, there will a new retail outlet for your hobbies that will be worth the wait!

Hey Kids!

It’s been awhile, but I’ve got some news! A really nice local gentleman and his wife have decided to start up a comics and gaming store in downtown Wilmette, and they’ve been sweet enough to ask me along for the ride! We’ve recently found a suitable spot, and now we’re beginning to get the nuts and bolts of it together for hopefully an Oct opening! I’ll post here for the time being to show and talk about what progress there’s been, and you can quip back on how we’re doing! The plans are to have a combination SERIOUS gaming facility as well as a nicely stocked comic and graphic novels dept. I’ll leave it at that today, as I’m superstitious and don't want to jinx myself. Please feel free to ask questions, and when I get time, I’ll answer, but these days I’m quite the busy bee. I want to thank all of you for your past support, and hope to improve upon your cultural experiences with this new venture. So save your shekels and be ready for us when we get to open the doors!
